At Kitsap Humane Society, we're enormously proud of the work we do, the people who do it, and the animals we do it for.. and we're excited to share it with you!
Join us Saturday, May 9 from noon to 2 p.m. and learn more about KHS! At this family-friendly event, you'll get to meet and ask questions of veterinarians, animal care professionals, animal control officers and more. You'll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour and you're bound to meet a bunch of cute and cuddly animals. You might even want to take one (or two) home!
Plus, we'll have activities for the kids, animal care tips and tricks, adoptions, and an ice cream truck! Join in the fun!
| | Big Dogs Need Good Homes! | | |
As of the end of April, Kitsap Humane Society had taken in 1,068 total animal in 2026, 529 of which were dogs and puppies. And some of our longer-stay dogs have been here much too long. It's time for them to find a happy home.
Fortunately, once again, the good people of our community have stepped up to help us out. This time, it's Regan Antig of John L. Scott Real Estate! She's very generously offered to pay the $150 adoption fees of 10 of our long-timers to assist them in finding a home faster - and only three have been adopted so far under this offer!
So come visit us this week and help Regan help the pups. Mallard, Wonder, Silas (above), and more are waiting to meet you. Adoptions open at noon!

| | Our May Puppuccino Pal: Liberty Bay Auto! | | |
The days are getting hotter and there's nothing our doggos like better than a cool puppuccino on a warm day. That's why Cypress here would like to thank Liberty Bay Auto in Poulsbo for being our Puppuccino Pal of the month!
Liberty Bay Auto calls themselves the "friendliest car store on the planet" and they've certainly been friendly to us. Visit their website to read about all their services, including car sales, service, and detailing!
And to see Cypress enjoy his treat while wearing a strange wig for some reason, click on the picture below!
| | Spay/Neuter Appointments Open Now | | |
Among the more important things we do at KHS is help to control the animal population in our community. Our Cat and Dog Fix days have become wildly popular and appointments fill up quickly, but if you click fast, you can still save your feline's place for Cat Fix Day on Wednesday, May 13!
To book an appointment, just click the button below, fill out the necessary information, and ensure that your kitty-cat doesn't become a mom or dad!

Kinda Free, Kinda Wow, Charlie!
This dapper-lookin' fellow is Charlie, a 10-year-old shorthair who would like to say hello. He's a super chill lap cat who enjoys the company of other cats and other people, very cuddly, and very talkative. He will absolutely sit right next to you, even when the whole sofa is available and will tell you why.
This old guy is also diabetic, so he has some special needs (don't we all?), so he needs a family who's comfortable managing his health - and doesn't mind giving lots of belly rubs. As you can tell by the tie, he's the kind of charming chap that's going to make you fall in love immediately.

Two are Always Better than Just One!
These two goofballs - Dottie and Lavender - are going to make your life so much fun! This bonded pair of pretty ladies are fun of energy and like nothing more than a jaunty walk together with their people. They have a shared love of tennis balls and Dottie loves to play fetch, while Lavender is still getting the hang of the "return" part of the game.
Both are big fans of booty scritches, snacks, interaction, and activity, and deliver good vibes wherever they may be. Come up to Kitsap Humane and meet these sweet girls today!

We found homes for a whole bunch of animals we love last month, but we're still looking for homes for so many more. Come visit us now!
In April, 167 animals were adopted, including 68 cats, 36 dogs, 47 puppies, 4 kittens, 1 rabbit, a chicken, and a ferret named "Ferret Fawcett" (thank you, Amethyst)!
Now we’d love to hear from you! How is your KHS alum thriving at home? Share your pet’s Happy Tails with us for a chance to be featured on our social media and help us celebrate the joy your animal brings every day.
| | Learn to Feed Bottle Babies! | | |
Kitten season is upon us, and soon Kitsap Humane will just be swimming in tiny little balls of cuteness. These fragile guys need care around the clock and we always have a hard time finding volunteers who know the ins and outs of bottle feeding.
Fortunately, the people at Poulsbo Parks and Recreation are helping us out. Join us in the Recreation Center Kitchen on May 9 or June 20 and you'll learn the essentials of bottle-feeding kittens and puppies, how to make an emergency supply kit, and what to do if you find an orphaned kitten in your community.
It's free! It's fun! It's adorable!
| | Revisit the KHS Annual Meeting | | |
On April 23, the Kitsap Humane Society Board of Directors and senior leadership held it's Annual Meeting, during which we reviewed the successes of 2025 and looked ahead to 2026.
During the meeting, we presented our adoption, animal care, and animal control numbers for the 2025, took an up-close look at our financials, thanked our wonderful supporters and volunteers, and celebrated what was one of the more rewarding years of our long more-than-a-decade-long history.
If you weren't able to attend the on-line meeting, you're in luck. Click on the button below to watch a video of the meeting and have all your KHS questions answered!
