Come participate in our public hikes each Tuesday and Thursday during the summer conference season with two special full day Saturday hikes. All hikes are free and open to the public. You must be 13 or older to attend a hike without an adult guardian. Hikes will leave at 9:00 am, unless otherwise noted, from the Montreat Nature Center, located just below the Lake Susan spillway.
In 2004, Montreat Conference Center placed approximately 2,460 acres of pristine wilderness under a conservation easement. This land is now permanently protected from development and is known as the Montreat Wilderness. By protecting this land we think of the many generations to come who will have the gift of experiencing Montreat’s nature, unperturbed by our changing world.
We are excited to begin offering skills demonstrations at the Nature Center this summer! Join us on select Thursdays to learn about woodworking, blacksmithing, knots, and more!
There is no better time to experience the Montreat Wilderness! Join us for our first hike on June 14!
