As required by our bylaws, this notice marks the official call to come together for the Annual Meeting of the Members of "California Men's Gatherings", aka CMG.
The event will be held on Saturday Jan 31 AND Sunday Feb 1st.
The Zoom session will open informally at 9:30am both days for socializing.
The meeting itself will begin at 10am, lasting until around 5pm, depending on how the meeting progresses.
There is no cost to attend.
WHAT IS AN AMM?
The Annual Members Meeting (AMM) is our yearly statewide meeting to shape the future of CMG, vote on proposals, elect board members, and reconnect as a
community. This year’s AMM will be held online, via Zoom, to ensure full accessibility for members across California without the rigors and costs of transportation.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
All general members are welcome! CMG defines a general member as anyone who is currently a member of our mailing list, so if you received this note directly from us, you are invited to attend and share your feelings about the future of CMG.
WHO CAN VOTE DURING THE AMM?
CMG defines a voting member as any general member who has either:
a] contributed at least 25 hours of service to CMG in a
recognized capacity since the last AMM - or -
b] has attended at least 10 previous AMMs
If you do not meet either criteria, you are still very welcome to attend, make proposals, contribute, and more; you just cannot vote on proposals.
HOW CAN I SUBMIT A PROPOSAL FOR THE AMM?
Members may submit proposals in writing before the meeting. Details on how to submit a proposal will follow in a future note. Proposals that affect membership-related issues must be voted on at the AMM. All other topics can be taken up either at the AMM or at board meetings throughout the year..
ISN'T THE AMM TRADITIONALLY HELD OVER MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY WEEKEND?
Travel used to be necessary for the AMM so, in the past, we took advantage of that holiday weekend to allow people more ease in not having to take Monday off work. As virtual meetings don't require travel, we heard requests from members who said they'd like to be able to use the three-day weekend for personal travel and events. This made sense, so we chose a different weekend.
WHY ISN'T THE ZOOM INFO IN THIS NOTE?
In order for CMG to have some sense of the event and prevent Zoom bombers, the Zoom link will only be given to men who register for the event. The sooner you register the better, but not later than 5pm on Jan 30, 2026.
