We are pleased to announce our 2019 Art Tour of New York City which includes six nights in a hotel, airfare, museum entry fees and museum tours, visit to an artist studio, transportation to and from New York airport, a substantial breakfast every morning and more! Our last two New York trips have been such great successes and so immensely enjoyed by all who attended, that we have decided to make this an annual event. We see so much great and interesting art that it provides nourishment for the rest of the year.

Please note that the VISA New York Art Tour tends to fill up quite quickly so if you are interested, it is best to book soon!
Cost includes:
* return flight from Victoria to New York
* artist/instructor tour guides Wendy Welch and Xane St Phillip will share their knowledge about art in New York
* breakfasts
* cocktail reception upon arrival
* bus tour of New York
* studio visit to a contemporary New York artist
* admission to museums (guided tours will be included in some of museum visits)
* 2-day curated tour of selected Chelsea Art Galleries
* transportation by shuttle from New York airport to hotel (and return)
* 18 credit hours for "Art in New York" VISA course
* $200 tax deductible donation to the Vancouver Island School of Art
(The above rate is based on double occupancy. Single occupancy: $5495).
Not included:
* transportation to and from Victoria airport
* lunch: we will mostly be eating lunch as New Yorkers do from street vendors, or in museum restaurants
* dinners: there are many restaurants including take-out places and grocery stores within a couple of minutes walk from hotel
* theatre, music or dance performance tickets
* New York City Metropass: this will give us full access to the New York bus and subway system which will be our main mode of transportation
There will be "free time" factored into the tour for those who might want to spend an afternoon shopping or seeing other sites or museums not listed above. Walking is a wonderful way to get to know New York, so this art tour is walking-focused and we will be walking to a few of the venues from the hotel. If you prefer not to walk, there is the option to take public transit or a taxi and meet us at the location. For venues that are further than a mile from hotel, we will opt for public transit.
VISA students as well as the general public are welcome to join us on this tour.
To sign up for this trip you need to make a $300 non-refundable deposit by
November 15, 2018. Balance of payment ($3699 double occupancy or $5195 single supplement) is due December 28, 2018. Seats are limited so please register soon if you are interested in joining the tour. Deposit can be made by phoning the office at 250-380-3500 with credit card number, or email transfer to
[email protected], or by cheque (in person or by mail). Paypal option will be on our website by Monday, Oct 29.
We will be flying via WestJet from Victoria to Toronto, then Toronto to New York. It is possible to book trip departing and returning to/from Nanaimo, Vancouver or Calgary, however extra fees will apply. This is an all-inclusive trip re: flight and hotel so we cannot make exceptions (eg. flight only or hotel only).
