COCKTAILS FOR A CAUSE
Wednesday 10 June 2020
6.00pm-7.15pm

Some of Australia's leading comedians are inviting people from across Australia to join them at home for a special 'VIRTUAL COCKTAIL FOR A CAUSE' in support of the Wellsprings for Women charity's 'Cultural Cuisines' program.

Cultural Cuisines is an initiative that started two years ago to harness the cooking skills of the women who attend Wellsprings, based in Dandenong, to engage in a number of programs to develop social connections and skills.

Since its inception the program has involved over 20 women from culturally diverse backgrounds who have catered for all the events held at Wellsprings, plus a number of externally hosted celebrations.

Chair of Wellsprings for Women Janet Cribbes said the women get trained in food handling and participate in a series of workshops to build their confidence and skills in catering.

The Wellsprings charity is working towards the program transitioning into a viable social enterprise that provides a regular source of income for the women involved.

Joining host J o Stanley at the virtual cocktail party will be Wil Anderson, an award-winning stand-up comedian, television host, writer and podcaster; Lehmo, a full-time funny person, radio host, TV presenter and occasional actor; and Lucy Durack fast becoming one of Australia’s leading actors of stage and screen and won the hearts of our nation as one of the beloved judges on 'Australia’s Got Talent'.

Urvi Majumdar is a writer and comedian based in Melbourne who is known for her dry and dark sense of humour.

Diana Ngyuen, actor and comedian, who has performed all over Australia and internationally with her standup shows Naked and Dirty Diana.

Aseel Tayah - Aseel is a Palestinian performance and visual artist who was born under occupation in Jerusalem. She makes art that represents what an Arab Muslim woman faces in this world.

Kirsty Webeck is winning hearts all over the country with her upbeat and relatable brand of comedy that is often described as “playful, light-hearted and fun.”
