SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY

We're having a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party on April 8, 2024!

Come view the solar eclipse at the Downtown Library from 10am to noon, with the peak viewing time estimated to be 11am. We will have many fun science activities offered by our partners from Sciencical and viewing glasses provided by NASA. A limited supply of glasses will be on hand at the event, first come first serve. We will not have glasses to pass out in advance of the event.

The April 8 eclipse will be a total solar eclipse. It will be the last total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States until 2044. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. Please note that it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing.

We will provide you with the funds to make it happen, as well as a $100 stipend per team member. All you need to do is share a creative idea for a program that you want to see for teens at your local Redwood City Public Library and work with us to make it happen!
