My first novel, The Night Riders of Harpers Ferry, was published in 1996. I was both gratified and nervous when the Association invited me to hold a book signing at the park shop.
The park is nestled in the mountains at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. In my youth I spent many happy hours exploring the historic town, paddling the rivers, and hiking the hills. The area remains quite dear to me.
My primary task will be researching a new book. To learn more about my goals for the residency, click here.

I moved to Wisconsin in 1982, and have never regretted it! My life, and most of my stories, are now deeply rooted here in Midwestern soil. Nonetheless, I'm honored to come full circle by returning to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park twenty-five years after that first signing.

I'm also excited with the prospect of sharing some lesser-known aspects of this special place with readers! Stay tuned.
