Greetings!

This week is the last chance to get tickets to hear Diana Beresford-Kroeger speak at our 25th anniversary celebration on June 6.

25th Anniversary Celebration

with Diana Beresford-Kroeger

Saturday June 6!

“When you walk into a forest —great or small—

you enter it in one state and emerge from it calmer.

You have that cathedral feeling and you’re never the same again.

You come out of there and you know something big has happened to you…

We now know that the alpha- and beta-pinenes produced by the forest actually do uplift your mood and affect your brain through your immune system….

The beneficial effects of a twenty minute pine forest walk

will remain in the immune system’s memory for about thirty days.”

Diana Beresford-Kroeger

We are thrilled to share this internationally renowned woman with you. Diana’s way of loving the Earth and holding hope for the future will inspire us all, along with her

award-winning work on protecting the climate. She is an endearing story-teller, with

many remarkable adventures to tell. Royal Canadian Geographical Society named

her one of 25 women explorers of Canada.

Diana plans to join in the Ceremony of Gratitude and Blessing at 11am. She will sign books (for sale) after she speaks in the afternoon.

Come prepared to bid on some unique antiques dating back to early owners of “The

Pines” – that’s what Maryholme was called before the Sisters purchased it in 1946.

There will also be new items and experiences –like dinner with our founder Sr. Jane McDonell– in this live auction. Watch our website for more specifics on auction items. Thanks to Dan Pollard of Pollards Auctions!

Maryholme Pondering Place

..what will you do with your one wild and precious life?

A wonderful opportunity to be at Loretto Maryholme virtually. Nestled along the lake's bluff between the sumac grove and the opening to the Stations Walk, this lovely pond is yet another meditative feature in our sacred space brimming with bird visitations, tadpoles in the pond, and a trickling fountain that is music to one's ears - although it was filmed a little later in the season last summer, it remains truly something more than ordinary...

“I want to remind you that the forest is far more than a source of timber. It is our collective medicine cabinet. It is our lungs. It is the regulatory system for our climate and our oceans. It is the mantle of our planet.”

Diana Beresford-Kroeger

We are so excited to be welcoming Diana Beresford-Kroeger to Maryholme!

“The truth was right there, so simple, a child could grasp it. Trees were responsible for the most basic necessity of life, the air we breathe.”

Diana Beresford-Kroeger

“To our young selves, though, there is no difference between the small questions and the big ones. We follow our curiosity to the edge of our understanding and then ask whoever is around what lies beyond it. I have spent my adult life fighting to keep what I possessed as a child: the ability to see the biggest questions sitting inside the smallest ones and the willingness to try to answer them.”

Diana Beresford-Kroeger

Our Labyrinth in the Trees

Enjoy a 23-minute virtual experience of Loretto Maryholme's Labyrinth in our beautiful woods. This contemplative walk immersed in the sounds of nature yet in personal silence, brings a sense of peace and calm as one breathes in the benefits of the woods - and yet as a virtual walk can still impress that same sense of quieting from us to you, where you're at...

"Wonderful! Surrounded by beauty, indoors, outdoors, at the lunch & dinner table... Maryholme is a haven of rest. It's a home! A home that helped me come back home to my body and let God encounter me there. Thank you for everything you to to keep this house so beautiful and welcoming. so cozy and open, in a spirit of simplicity and beauty, of love and care for the living!"

"Beautiful surprise how easy it was to feel at home here. It really helped me transition from 35 years at Loyola, Guelph."

"A very beautiful and uplifting setting - lake, forest, property and buildings. It was very comfortable and relaxing, able to just sit, walk and chat with God. Good spiritual direction that allowed & prompted good reflection and steering to the essential of the relationship with God. Very well run, everything went smoothly. The food was amazing, Michele's cooking was very creative with lovely taste combinations, all very yummy. This was the best transition into retirement that anyone could ask for! Would like to do it agin and invite others to do it in family, friends & church. Thank you for the sisters' prayers and provision of this sacred place."
