A Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Parents,

During my Back to School Night presentation I told you about a new program we are adding to our religion curriculum this year which involves working to develop a different virtue each month. The program is meant to be a community-wide program that involves not only students and teachers, but parents as well as we develop the virtue together and model it for each other.  In October, we focused on the virtue of gratitude. Stewardship is the focus for November. This Catholic virtue entails the acknowledgement that all good things come from God and it is our job as His children to care for them. It includes taking care of each other, those who are less fortunate, and our environment. This is a tall order in today's society where competition, winning, and being number one are often elevated over love for each other. I invite you to help us promote the virtue of stewardship by discussing and modeling these things with your children at home. They already see this in the way you care for your family. They can also learn valuable lessons from you in the little things like when they witness you being extra courteous to other drivers or when you offer a kindness to someone you don't particularly like. We appreciate your support as your children bring home religion assignments about stewardship to share with you.

I am very grateful to our Parent Association. The active members of this group are constantly engaged in stewardship for our school community. Their two main fundraisers help to keep tuition increases in check for all parents. Their work in hospitality and in creating fun events like Halloween Trunk or Treat, nurtures our community spirit. I am proud that our parent group is unafraid of change and is willing to explore new and different activities that work for today's families. The recent Drive-through Dinner fundraiser is a great example. Those who participated reported that the food was excellent and they thoroughly enjoyed providing a home-cooked meal for their family that also helped the school.  As usual, Racquel Wooley and her helpers did a fabulous job. A special shout-out goes to Sam Tamayo who slaved over a hot grill to provide the delicious tri-tip. Details of the next Drive-through Dinner will be available soon.
