March Second Sunday Serve

For our next Second Sunday Serve on March 12th, we have two exciting opportunities!

First, we will be supporting the United Methodist Committee on Relief! UMCOR is the disaster relief agency of the UMC that mobilizes teams to alleviate suffering caused by natural of human-induced disasters. Currently, UMCOR is responding to the War in Ukraine by providing comprehensive care to those displaced by the conflict, and they are also responding to the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria by providing grants and supplies to humanitarian agencies on the ground.

For our Second Sunday Serve, we are going to support UMCOR by packing hygiene kits, which provide basic necessities to those suffering from disasters. We will gather after our 11:00 service in the fellowship hall for our usual Second Sunday Lunch, and then after we enjoy food and fellowship we will spend time packing these kits! Between now and March 12, we are inviting Mulberrians to give a special offering that will allow the church to purchase the goods that go into this kit (hand towels, combs, toothbrushes, etc.). Each kit costs approximately $12 to assemble, and our goal is to make 125 kits. Thus, we are challenging our church to give $1500 to support this special ministry! If you’d like to make a special offering to go towards the hygiene kits, please add “hygiene kits” to the memo line on a physical check, cash envelope, or our online giving platform.

We are also providing CPR training! Beth Tripp and her friend have graciously offered to teach the class, which will begin after lunch and last approximately 2 hours. The cost will be $10, and participants will receive certification through the American Heart Association. Being prepared to offer life saving medical intervention is a fantastic way to serve others! Spots are limited for this training, so be sure to sign up HERE.

We hope you will join us for this afternoon of fellowship and service! And don’t forget to bring your favorite side dish or dessert for our lunch!
