Happening Around the Church . . .

Offering Plate Card.  Are you a loyal supporter of St. Andrew’s but use digital payments, or write checks monthly, quarterly or sporadically? When the plate is passed, have you felt awkward not having an envelope or check to put in? You are not alone! To address this situation we are introducing the “Offering Plate Card.” Look in any of the small racks at the back of every pew. You will find an Offering Plate Card with the wording:

May this card serve as a symbol of my pledge of treasure
to God and to St. Andrew’s, which I fulfill regularly
by check or automatic payment.

Put it in the plate and it will be blessed along with everyone else’s contributions!

Episcopal Church in Connecticut Annual Convention, Sunday October 27. Convention Eucharist in Hartford at 11:00am. Only one service of Morning Prayer at St. Andrew’s at 9:30 a.m.  As many of us as are able are encouraged to attend worship at the diocesan convention in Hartford – please see details below.  Come worship with your sisters and brothers across Connecticut at the Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford, CT and hear the Good News as proclaimed by the Rt. Rev. Barbara Harris, the first woman to be consecrated a bishop in the Anglican Communion. Our venue this year allows us the unique opportunity to hold a worship service where all are welcome to attend and take part in our sacramental life. Prior to worship, there will be a light breakfast offered at the Convention Center for all attendees, an excellent opportunity to connect with your fellow Episcopalians from around the state. Registration for Sunday is free but requires separate registration from your Convention registration. Anyone who wishes to participate in worship at this year's Annual Convention needs to reserve a spot for themselves using https://conventionworship2019.eventbrite.com/.

Counters Needed – We have created 5 teams of counters who gather at noon on Sundays to count the offering. One of the teams has lost one of their counters. If you are interested in becoming a counter, please let Lucinda Embersits or Barb Gibbons know. Thank you.
STOP and SHOP CARDS. The purchase of Stop & Shop cards provides an additional opportunity, over and above our pledging, to help support St. Andrew's while you buy your groceries. 5% of all card purchases go directly to St. Andrew's when paid for with cash or a personal check. Buy Stop & Shop cards after each service or during the week in the church office. We do accept Visa, Master Card and Discover but then we only net about 2 1/2% for St. Andrew's.
