HPL'S Outreach and Program Coordinator Michelle McFarland was selected as a winner of the 2021-22 Bassett Distinguished Humanitarian Award from Central Connecticut State University
Michelle, who has worked at HPL for more than 25 years in many different roles, is now often seen accompanying the Library on Wheels throughout Hartford and was a key player providing library services to residents who could not visit physical library locations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I'm overwhelmed in a good way." Speechless to be honest and most grateful to be considered by the community for an honor of this magnitude." — Michelle McFarland
The award, established in 2015, recognizes individuals who embody the humanitarian spirit of Ebenezer Don Carlos Bassett, the first African American appointed as a United States diplomat and an 1853 graduate of what went on to become Central Connecticut State University.
Yay Michelle! We are so proud of you!
