RCPL LIMITED EDITION / RCPL EDICIÓN LIMITADA
We are thrilled to announce the first phase in our reopening – RCPL Limited Edition! On May 24, 2021, we will be opening all three of our locations for limited in-person browsing and computer use. While we would love to open sooner for you, we feel strongly that providing the opportunity for all of our library workers to be fully vaccinated before reopening is the safest course of action for our library customers and our staff.
All three of our libraries will welcome you back to browse our collections, pick up holds, get new (or renewed) library cards, use computers for one-hour sessions, and a few more express services. We will continue to offer our online events and curbside pickup by appointment until the reopening. After May 24, customers that wish to use the curbside pickup drop-in service can still do so at the Downtown Library. We are working out all the details to ensure a safe experience for customers and staff, but we are planning to be open 6 days per week at the Downtown Library and 5 days per week at Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library. Our plans follow San Mateo County’s alignment with California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, and are subject to change based on the County’s COVID-19 guidance. Visit our RCPL Limited Edition webpage in the next few weeks as we announce our visiting guidelines and safety measures.

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION
The Makerspace in the Downtown Library is closer than ever to becoming a reality! The Redwood City Library Foundation has raised over $300,000 to complete the first phase of fundraising. Adding this to Redwood City's $165,000 pledge allows us to move on to the next phase: going to bid! Our architect is working with the City on final construction drawings and permits. We expect construction to start this summer and the new Makerspace to open this fall! The Makerspace will provide opportunities for people of all ages to create, experiment and collaborate in a self-directed hands-on learning environment.
We are sincerely grateful to the SAGA Foundation for getting us to our initial fundraising goal! "The SAGA Foundation is delighted to support the new Makerspace. Having this innovative idea come to fruition as we exit the pandemic is perfect timing. We look forward to seeing the community come together to collaborate and create in this dynamic new setting." David J. Bartoshuk, President, SAGA Foundation
A reminder: Don’t forget to get your tickets for our un-bee-lieveable online fundraiser on World Bee Day, May 20! For information and tickets, go to: https://paybee.io/@rclf
