Friends and fellow disciples,

I’m excited to share some great news with you. As vaccinations increase and case numbers decrease, we’re pleased to be able to open up campus and move toward regathering in person on Sunday mornings.

The first step means that all the pastors and worship leaders can be together in the Sanctuary to bring you worship on Sunday mornings. We’ll begin that next Sunday, June 6, as we begin broadcasting our worship live on Sundays at 11:00am. You’ll still tune in to Westminster’s YouTube channel to watch, but know that it will be broadcast in real-time going forward. We ask for your patience as we adjust to some new technology and to having all the worship leaders live in the Sanctuary at once for the first time in many, many months.

BUT there’s more! We will return to in-person worship in the Sanctuary on Sunday, June 20, at 11:00am! Here’s what you need to know – the details are pretty simple actually:

  • You can just show up on Sunday morning. No sign-up needed.
  • Facemasks are required while you’re indoors on campus. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask outdoors but are welcome to wear one if they choose.
  • Social distancing and capacity restrictions will no longer be required.

We’ll ask you to sign in on an attendance sheet before entering the Sanctuary for worship, so be sure to arrive a few minutes early to allow time for that. It will be a while longer before we can sing together, but there will be a small choir gathered in the chancel wearing special masks and singing the hymns, and the congregation will be invited to hum along.

We will worship in the Sanctuary on Sundays at 11:00am throughout the summer. We are working toward reopening the nursery for children birth through pre-K. In the meantime, we welcome our youngest disciples to join us in the Sanctuary. We will be delighted to see them.

Also, as of June 1 groups can gather indoors and reserve rooms for meetings. Groups of children and their leaders will need to wear facemasks indoors and outdoors for a while longer. Watch for more information as we live into this new era of Westminster together. It is so important we take great care and look out for one another.

We’ve been waiting for this since last March, in the midst of this tumultuous year, and now is the time. It fills me with joy to think about seeing so many of you and all of us being together again. We have been a community, a covenant people throughout this time, and with God’s help, we will surely continue to be. Come, bring a friend, and let us worship God together.

Peace and hope,
Chris
