Yom Yerushalayim Sameakh! יום ירושלים שמח
Tomorrow, the 28th of the month of Iyar, will be the 53
anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War.
On that day (June 7
, 1967 according to the Western calendar), Moshe Dayan, Israel’s defense minister, proclaimed:
“This morning, the Israel Defense Forces liberated Jerusalem. We have united Jerusalem, the divided capital of Israel. We have returned to the holiest of our holy places, never to part from it again.”
We celebrate the accomplishments of the remarkably beautiful, flourishing capital of Israel, and following the words of the Psalmist (122:6) we “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”
