Dear People of God gathered at St Andrew’s,
“Jesus said, "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine
linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor
man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to satisfy his
hunger with what fell from the rich man's table…”
The walls that separate "us"; from "them", the rich from the poor; the
haves from the have nots could not be clearer.
We may think we are not rich – but by the world’s standards we are rich.
This parable is a wakeup call for how God wants us to be and to act.
When we see someone in need -- we need to act, do something!
We are not called to do everything, but we can all do something. And
that is what we did this past week.
On Sunday, our Sunday School children decorated bags. Then on
Wednesday Rebel Women gathered to assemble things that could help
those in need – granola bars, water, canned sausage, crackers, raisins,
Krispy treats, breath mint, napkin and hand sanitizer.
(See pictures!)
At the back of the church there is a table of bags. Please take a bag with
you to put in your car, then when you see someone in need – you will be
able to help them.
But the most important gift you can provide is prayer.
I invite you this week to have an intimate conversation with God. Ask
God to help us be mindful of those in need, and then to be God’s hands
in the world.
Blessings,
Pastor Cyndi
