For over 30 years, the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce has been the proud licensee for the prestigious ATHENA International Award® recognizing outstanding Yuma County residents. The ATHENA International Award® recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession; provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community; and actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential. They contribute to leadership through 8 qualities: authentic self, relationships, giving back, collaboration, courageous acts, learning, fierce advocacy, and celebration and joy. Through a generous sponsorship from the National Bank of Arizona, the Chamber is once again seeking nominations for this award.

Hi Yuma Chamber Members!

Yuma and Arizona Western College will host the NJCAA National Softball Championships at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex in late May.

The competition takes place from Tuesday, May 24 – to Saturday, May 28. We will accept any help you have to offer and build you into our schedule!

These are 16 of the best D1 teams from across the nation. The level of play is very high, and it’s a true pleasure to support these athletes and coaches on what could be their first visit to Yuma!

We are seeking volunteers for three roles:

  • Game Statisticians – should have some working knowledge of softball or baseball stats. We can provide refresher training if needed. We need two people each game. One will enter the stats into the computer and the other will track them with paper and pencil. Materials & Laptop will be provided.
  • Game Announcer/Scoreboard/Music Operators – will keep the scoreboard updated, announce players in the game, and play music (equipment and music provided). We need two people for each game. The two workers will share the three jobs.
  • Gate Ticket Sales – will help sell/take tickets at the front gate. Hours for this position will differ from the game schedule below.

If you’re willing to volunteer for one (or more) of these roles, please email Cindy Evans @ [email protected] and indicate which role and which day(s) you’re available.
Thank you very much!

Lori Stofft
Vice President for Advancement and NJCAA Softball Tournament Volunteer

Visit Yuma has partnered with Arizona Office of Tourism to bring our members free Google My Business Training.

Visit Yuma is happy to announce two virtual workshops to provide instructional content to optimize the online presence of Yuma businesses. Please register for each below. Whether or not you attend the session, you will receive a recording to engage on your own schedule.

Your Google business profile is the single largest source of organic (non-paid) exposure for your business online and better business profiles ultimately drive more visits, resulting in more customers. The great news is that having a great Google business profile is not that hard if you know how.

Miles Partnership is a strategic marketing company focused exclusively on travel and tourism. They’ve worked with hundreds of destinations and hospitality businesses around the world and have developed a tactical workshop to assist in navigating the Google Business Profile platform. It’s built on a best-practices study of over 100,000 business profiles and rather than you study all that yourself, come along to this workshop and just get the key takeaways - including simple, easily actioned quick tips.

It’s crucial for any business to be managing the information that appears on their Google business profile, for the sake of both current and future customers. It doesn’t require hours of your time or a degree in Digital Marketing, just some insider knowledge on how to claim your listing, complete it and update it so you can be in that top 10% of businesses too.
