YouthSpeak on Resilience & Racial Injustice
We often share youth voices to shine a light on what it is like to be a young person living here. This year we asked students to write about how they have tried to stay resilient in the midst of a global pandemic and the fight for racial justice. We received over 98 submissions and this year’s winner is and will be the voice for a whole generation.

YouthSpeak Contest Winner: Chinonye Omeirondi.
Chinonye's words represent the hope of the next generation but also the fears they face and the demands they are making of us to do more – to right the wrongs, to fight to keep the rights we have and to expand the ability of every person in the county to thrive, to live, and love freely and to belong.

Join us this Thursday, May 26 at 12 - 1pm, Commemorating the Legacy of George Floyd: A Discussion on the Documentary Film, Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America, with writer Jeffery Robinson. Robinson draws a stark timeline of anti-Black racism in the United States, from slavery to the modern myth of a post-racial America. Join us as we find common ground for conversations and suggestions and continued calls for racial justice.

A Zoom link for the discussion with Jeffery Robinson will be automatically emailed upon registration. An access link will be made available for viewing the 118 minute film on your own time before the discussion.
