Comments Invited on PQA Measures for Endorsement and Retirement
PQA invites comments on one health plan performance measure that is being considered for endorsement and four PQA-endorsed health plan performance measures that are being considered for retirement. PQA is providing a 15-business day public comment period and is accepting comments today through October 21, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. ET
 
PQA will make the comments it receives publicly available, along with the name of the submitting individual or organization. The comments will be posted in the PQA Member Resources Libraryand will be available upon request to non-PQA members. As part of PQA’s commitment to transparency, this builds on PQA's past practice of addressing comment themes in aggregate. Comments received will be posted approximately one week following the close of the comment period. 
 
Below are details on the comment opportunities and links to informational documents. We encourage you to discuss these measures with colleagues and business associates. An all-member webinar to discuss the measures and address questions will take place on December 1 in advance of a members-only vote from December 1-16 on measure endorsement and retirement. 
Endorsement and Retirement Consideration  
PQA invites comments on proposed endorsement of one new health plan performance measure, and proposed retirement of four PQA-endorsed health plan performance measures.  

Endorsement of one new HEALTH PLAN performance measure: 

A summary description and key points, measure overview and clinical rationale, and specifications for the measure being considered for endorsement are provided for review. PQA’s measure development, testing and endorsement process is described here

Retirement of four PQA-endorsed HEALTH PLAN performance measures: 
  • Antipsychotic Use in Persons with Dementia: MDS (APD-MDS) 
  • Initial Opioid Prescribing at High Dosage (IOP-HD) 
  • Initial Opioid Prescribing for Long-Acting or Extended-Release Opioids (IOP-LA) 
  • Use of Opioids at High Dosage and from Multiple Providers in Persons without Cancer (OHDMP)

Following the comment period, PQA members will have the opportunity to vote electronically on the measures listed above.

1) Submit comments to PQA via online form.
Oct. 3 - Oct. 21, 2022
2) Attend an all-member webinar hosted by PQA staff to discuss the measures and to address questions.
Dec. 1, 2022, 1:00-2:30 p.m. ET 
3) Vote on 1 measure considered for PQA endorsement and 4 measures considered for retirement.
  • The measures will be voted on through an electronic ballot via an email that will be sent on December 1. The email will include instructions and a link to the ballot.
  • Each member organization has one vote per measure.
  • Note: Voting is limited to PQA membership only. 
  • Voting will be open for 12 business days and will close on December 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
