The Ohio Securities Conference was held last Friday at the Westin Great Southern Hotel in downtown Columbus. This year's event was co-hosted by Commerce's Division of Securities and the Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Making an Impact: Helping Victims of Financial Fraud

Hats off the Division of Securities on an anniversary that means a lot to Ohioans hit hard by investment scams and losses. The division has awarded more than $1.3 million to victims through the Investor Recovery Fund since the fund's launch a year ago.

REPL Continues Cemetery Grant Check Presentations

Last week, REPL continued its check presentations for Fiscal Year 2024 Cemetery Grants, presenting checks at two Auglaize County Cemeteries. Deputy Superintendent Jessica Krajewski and Cemetery Registration & Resolution Chief Lauran Monick delivered the checks to Ft. Amanda Cemetery and St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The funds will be used to remove trees, repair headstones and repair tornado damage. In all, the Division awarded $104,000 in grants to 45 Ohio cemeteries in 32 counties. 

Protecting What Matters in Real Estate

On October 12, Real Estate Superintendent Daphne Hawk served on a panel with the Ohio AARP group at the Franklin Park Conservatory. The panel discussed real estate scams with senior citizens and gave tips on how to avoid them. Click here to read more about real estate scams and what to be on the lookout for.

DIC Pulls Double Duty at OSU

With both ESPN College Game Day and FOX's Big Noon Kickoff on campus for Ohio State's game against Penn State, DIC electrical and structural inspectors pulled double duty last Friday inspecting stages and setups for both shows.

DFI Announces Financial Literacy Grant Recipients

Commerce's Division of Financial Institutions has announced four recipients of financial literacy grants through the Financial Literacy Education Fund. The fund aims to support various financial literacy education programs to benefit Ohioans throughout the state.

New Look for Your Email Signature!

As we’ve mentioned, the new brand guidelines for the State of Ohio mean a new look for a lot of different digital and physical collateral throughout the Department of Commerce. As we work towards those changes with each division heading into the new year, we are asking employees to change their email signature by November 1.

Final Reminder: Get Your "Securing Ohio" Courses Completed by October 27!

Before you know it, it will be October 27 when “Securing Ohio 2023” must be completed. Please don’t wait until the last minute: there’s a good chance you will experience issues with the training if many state employees are trying to access the courses at the same time. The "Securing Ohio 2023-24" Learning Plan contains the four courses that make up "Securing Ohio." In total, the courses take about one hour to complete.

December Leave Conversion to Begin Nov. 6

Starting November 6 at 7 a.m., eligible employees will be able to access the Leave Conversion page through the myOhio.gov portal You will be able to make your elections through 4 p.m. on November 13.
