New REPL Superintendent Named

Daphne Hawk starts today in her new role as the Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing’s new superintendent.



Hawk brings 25-plus years of experience as a real estate agent to the role. She also served as a real estate relations manager at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency and as Franklin County’s recorder and a Jackson Township trustee.

BUSTR Bureau Chief Swearing-In Ceremony

Commerce Director Sherry Maxfield and State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon were on hand for the swearing-in ceremony for new BUSTR Bureau Chief Scott King. King took his Oath of Office to “support the constitution of the United States and Ohio and to faithfully discharge his duties.”  


King brings 30 years of experience in Public Safety including Emergency Management, Fire, Investigations, Environmental Response, Safety, and EMS fields. He replaces recently retired bureau chief Steven Krichbaum.

Dial 988: New Mental Health Crisis Hotline Launched Saturday 

This past weekend, starting on July 16, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline was changed from an 11-digit number to 988, in an effort to make it easier for people to access help in a moment of crisis.


The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available for anyone in the United States who is experiencing emotional distress or suicidal thoughts and can be contacted via a phone call or online chat.

Ohio Fire Marshal Festival Set for Fall

Save the date for this year’s Ohio Fire Marshal Festival, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This family-friendly open house event will not only highlight each bureau within the Marshal’s office but includes a mix of activities for young and old, including inflatables, balloon twisting, face painting, games, food trucks, fire apparatus, fire safety demonstrations, entertainment, and more. Stay tuned for additional details.
