2025 Annual Report Published

Our 2025 Annual Report is out now! The report highlights our work and partnerships over the last year. In 2025, we stayed committed to our mission: to serve as a steady source of clarity, providing trusted expertise to help communities plan for a thriving Region.

Tindall-Schlicht

Congratulations to our new Commissioner, Adam Tindall-Schlicht, who has been reappointed to the Commission by the Governor’s office. Tindall-Schlicht previously served on the Commission from 2020-2022.

REGIONAL PLANNING

VISION 2060: A New Long-Range Plan
for Southeastern Wisconsin

The Commission has begun work on VISION 2060, the next generation of the Region’s long-range land use and transportation plan. Building on decades of regional planning, VISION 2060 will guide decisions about land use, transportation, and the natural environment across the Region’s counties through the year 2060. The planning process officially kicked off in February and is expected to be completed in 2028.

ENVIRONMENTAL

New Chloride Impact Study Report

We’ve published Technical Report No. 65 that quantifies the major sources of chloride impacting the Region’s environment, including road salt, water softener discharge, industrial wastewater, and fertilizers.

Fox River Summit Recap

It was another great turnout for this year’s Fox River Summit! More than 160 attendees came together to collaborate around issues facing the Fox River watershed. The Commission is a co-sponsor of the annual event.

Our Deputy Director Ben McKay and Chief Environmental Engineer Laura Herrick joined the WGTD Morning Show to share the latest updates on the Commission’s planning and environmental initiatives.

Spectrum News Spotlights Chloride Study

Justin Poinsatte, our Principal Specialist-Biologist, discussed the impacts of rising chloride levels in lakes and streams in Southeastern Wisconsin and the Commission’s Chloride Impact Study with Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin.
