Discuss raising minimum wage: Commissioner Garcia voted in favor of increasing the mandatory minimum wage for county employees from $15 to $20 an hour and up to $21.65 per hour for vendors. This is expected to foster more living-wage jobs that ensure worker safety, benefits, and stability across all educational level, reduce turnover and increase productivity. Additionally, as workers earn more they benefit from greater financial security and motivation to remain employed.
Support affordable housing: Commissioners Court approved the tax exemption of five low-income housing properties managed by New Hope Housing, Inc., three of which are in Precinct 2.

Leading in digital inclusion: Commissioner Garcia presented a resolution recognizing Harris County for receiving the Digital Inclusion Visionary Trailblazer Award by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance. This award highlights Harris County as a leader in digital inclusion, serving as a national example by demonstrating a commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring all residents have access to affordable, reliable internet service and the skills to use it effectively. Sindhu Menon, Executive Director of Universal Services, accepted the resolution.

Celebrating Baytown's mayor: Mayor Charles Johnson of the City of Baytown was recognized for becoming the city's first Black mayor. Mayor Johnson is a lifelong resident and former Baytown Councilmember and says this is a dream come true for him.
