"Kentucky’s dairy farmers do so much for Kentucky families, and honoring them with their own month is one small way we can acknowledge their ingenuity and dependability," said Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles, seated above center, who signs a proclamation declaring June as Dairy Month in the commonwealth.
"I feel sure we will be pretty busy in the fall," said Eddie Gibson of Ed-Mar Farm, shown with his wife, Marcy (far right), and their daughter, Maddie.
Among all agricultural products, milk ranks eighth in the state in value. Kentucky producers received more than $175.4 million in cash receipts from sales of dairy products in 2020.
