Project Highlight: West Seminary Bridge Repair
While most of our big Brandon project is wrapped up, we were asked to work on an additional change order for the town. Last fall, a hole opened up in the existing bridge slab under West Seminary Street.

A decision was made to replace the entire bridge superstructure and rehab the existing substructure, finishing up with any paving, sidewalk, and curb work. We will be completing the project in late fall, so look forward to seeing pictures!

Next Steps to Drive an Industry Leading Fleet
Introducing our new equipment inspection process
As we mentioned in last week's newsletter, we are in the process of rolling out a new inspection process for our equipment. Our goal is to make sure our equipment is safe for operation, to get issues reported and repaired as timely as possible, and to maintain an industry leading fleet we can all be proud of.
Please watch the video above for a message from Joe Casella and Dan Caputo about our new equipment inspection process
Backing Safety & Situational Awareness
Look Before Backing
Vehicle backing accidents are common, but completely preventable.
A few simple and easy actions you can take to prevent backing accidents are:
  • Getting to know a vehicle's blind spots

  • Avoiding unnecessary backing situations

  • Parking defensively

  • Backing into alleys

  • Doing a walk-around

  • Using a spotter

Good Catch / Near Miss
Situational awareness and an eye for safety are the foundation of employee wellness at Casella Construction. The Good Catch & Near Miss Program recognizes employees who take action to keep us all safe.

A Near Miss is an event that’s been recognized in which no employee is injured, or property damage is sustained, but could have given a slight change in variables.

A Good Catch is the recognition by an employee of a situation or condition that had the potential to become an incident but did not due to corrective action taken and/or prompt intervention.
Don't forget to submit your form if you come across a good catch.
And remember, Good Catch winners of the month win a $100 gift card!
