This Sunday, we continue our 2024 Cross Roads Stewardship Season. A stewardship season is an open invitation for everyone to commit their time, talents, and treasures to furthering Cross Roads’ mission and ministry of sharing the good news of Christ’s love with ALL. Our worship series is entitled Committed to Christ. We are exploring the various ways the Holy Spirit inspires us to be committed to Christ. Last Sunday we focused on financial giving. This Sunday we focus on being a service. We are blessed to receive this morning’s message from Rev. Dr. Khalif Smith. He serves as the Director of Connectional Ministries for our Annual Conference. Jesus Christ was a servant and, like him, we are called to serve. As we worship, may we be inspired to turn our worship into work. May we be empowered to commit to being servants of Christ in a world in desperate need of God’s love.

Rev. Dr. Khalif Akil Smith Sr. was raised in New York City as the child of a United Methodist pastor, serving in various church roles from acolyte to Sunday school teacher. He moved to Georgia in 1991 to pursue a degree in Telecommunications Management, later completing additional degrees in Information Technology and a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology. Answering God's call in 2006, Rev. Khalif has served as Senior Pastor at multiple United Methodist Churches, including Mt. Zion UMC, Dacula UMC, Clarkston UMC, and Trinity UMC in Las Vegas. He has held leadership roles in numerous conference and district committees, such as the Board of Ordained Ministry and the Conference Culture Task Force. Rev. Khalif currently serves as the Director of Connectional Ministries for the Desert Southwest Conference. He is passionate about spreading the Gospel and committed to building community, social justice, and adaptive leadership. Rev. Khalif is supported in his ministry by his wife, Nikki, and their children, Cassie, Khalif II, Asti, and Zoe.

Cross Roads is partnering with Walgreens to be able to bring to the community FREE flu shots for ages 3 and above.

No appointment is needed. Simply fill out the Vaccine Administration Record (VAR) form and bring it with you. VAR forms will also be provided in the lobby of the church sanctuary and on November 17th.

Walgreens will also be giving out COVID-19 vaccinations, along with RSV vaccines.

A reminder: If your giving comes by check, please expect a slight delay in your bank account deduction. A growing number of tithes and offerings now come to us electronically, so our money counters only meet every other Monday to deposit cash and checks. Until then, all gifts wait patiently in our church safe.

Food Bank In Need of Donations

Cross Roads has supported Desert Mission Food Bank for years in order to be able to provide our community with the basic needs they deserve. Below is a list of the donations that are acceptable. All donations should be unopened, labeled and in its original packaging. Heart-healthy foods that are low in sodium and fat are encouraged.

Whole wheat pasta
Whole grain cereal
Low sodium canned veggies
100% juice
Chicken and tune in water
Low sodium canned beans
Dry beans
Natural peanut butter
Bottled water
Hygiene products
Baby formula (orange or blue Similac for ages 12 months and younger)

Liturgist Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to participate in worship. We need volunteers to read scripture, and lead us in prayer. If you are interested sign up in the Lobby or speak with James Pelfrey.

Nursery Attendants Needed

We are looking for volunteers to serve as pre-school attendants to supply help with our toddlers during worship. Volunteers would help Rev. Mary and Tom during children's time.
