Muffins with the Ministry Team

Thursday, August 6 | 10 am - 12 pm | Common Flame members 70 or better are invited by the ministry team for connection & conversation. We’ll spend time discussing the monthly theme & breaking into small groups for deeper conversations. Bring muffins to share!

Common Flame Community Picnic

Sunday, August 23 | 11 am - 3 pm | Maple Grove Park | Our annual picnic is back & bigger than ever! Celebrate our new name with Common Flame congregants & our larger community. We'll have food trucks, live music, a bounce house, a watermelon eating contest, and more!

Resilience & Acceptance in the Face of Collapse

Mondays, August 24 - October 5 | 6 - 7:30 pm | In this time of uncertainty, grieving it and building resilience is essential. Preparing ourselves, through a series of videos, readings and reflection-writing, participants gather to speak about their learnings and responses. Facilitated by Tina Yoder.

28th Annual Small Unitarian Beerfest

Saturday, August 1 | 2 pm | $25 | Art & Sara's backyard | Enjoy Art's famous homebrews & some munchies. Bring 3 craft beers to share. Beers will be categorized, including N/A and gluten-free brews. Designated drivers: No need to buy a ticket; 5 dollars at the door will cover food.

Four Hands Piano Recital

Sunday, August 2 | 4 pm | $20 | They're back! Master pianists, Adam Revell and Jude Markel, will dazzle us again this year with amazing solos and duets! Join them in our sanctuary for an afternoon of exceptional music-making! Children are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Make Your Own Pizza Party!

Saturday, August 8 | 5 pm | There will be pizza dough, sauce, toppings & cheese ready for you to make a masterpiece for you & a friend. Home-made pizza dough, gluten free tortilla bases, vegetarian & vegan toppings provided. We'll also provide nibbles, wine, Italian mineral water and chocolate gelato for dessert.

Sundae Sunday

Community Table Personal Care Item Collection

Sundays, August 2 - August 23 | The Women's Group is collecting personal hygiene items for Community Table, an Arvada nonprofit serving families in need. Needs: tampons, pads, bar soap, body wash, razors, laundry soap, deodorant, lotion, sunscreen, and bandaids. Sample or hotel sizes are useful.

Common Flame CAN Meeting

Sunday, August 2 | 11:30 am - 1:15 pm | In person and online | In this CAN (Community Action Network) meeting, we will discuss the upcoming election, with a focus on ballot issues and candidate forums.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Friday, August 21 | 1 - 6 pm | Reserve your time slot to donate blood with Red Cross, and help keep the supply afloat! Bring a photo ID, your blood donor card, or two other forms of ID to your appointment for a successful donation.

Queer Social Justice Group

Monday, August 24 | 6:30 - 8 pm | We're a group of queer people & allies committed to raising awareness of issues that affect the queer community. We will be turning that awareness and education into action, including but not limited to, helping our unhoused find refuge and helping our queer youth find safety and community.

Airports' New Frontier: Decarbonization & Electrification

Thursday, August 27 | 7 - 9:30 pm | GTF | Several airports in the US & globally are taking measures to reduce their environmental impact. We'll hear about examples from Renée Azerbegi, an expert who's been on the forefront of sustainable architecture & building design for decades, including with Denver International Airport.
