School Board Advocacy Watch Event

Thursday, July 23 | 6 - 9 pm | Our Queer Social Justice Group, along with Engage Jeffco, is hosting a streaming of a conversation with PFLAG National. This training will explore effective strategies for school board advocacy. Take meaningful action & strengthen your impact at the local level!

Summer MUUsic & Arts Camp

August 10 - 14 | 9 am - 3 pm | Sign up by THIS FRIDAY, July 24 | Our kids & youth will spend a week learning & rehearsing our program before Children's Music Service on August 16. Singing, acting & dancing optional. We'll have plenty of opportunities for everyone!

Common Flame Community Picnic

Sunday, August 23 | 11 am - 3 pm | Maple Grove Park | Our annual picnic is back & bigger than ever! Celebrate our new name with Common Flame congregants & our larger community. We'll have food trucks, live music, a bounce house, (of course) a watermelon eating contest, and more.

Resilience & Acceptance in the Face of Collapse

Mondays, August 24 - October 5 | 6 - 7:30 pm | Sadly, our culture turns away from facing crises despite the reality of the climate crisis and worldwide instability. In this time of uncertainty, grieving it and building resilience is essential. Preparing ourselves, through a series of videos, readings and reflection-writing, participants gather to speak about their learnings and responses. Facilitated by Tina Yoder.

Four Hands Piano Recital

Sunday, August 2 | 4 pm | $20 | They're back! Master pianists, Adam Revell and Jude Markel, will dazzle us again this year with amazing solos and duets! Join them in our sanctuary for an afternoon of exceptional music-making! Children are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Queer Social Justice Group

Monday, July 27 | 6:30 - 8 pm | We're a group of queer people & allies committed to raising awareness of issues that affect the queer community. We will be turning that awareness and education into action, including but not limited to, helping our unhoused find refuge and helping our queer youth find safety and community.

Community Table Personal Care Item Collection

Sundays, August 2 - August 23 | The Women's Group will be collecting personal hygiene items for Community Table, an Arvada nonprofit serving families in need. Needs: tampons, pads, bar soap, body wash, razors, laundry soap, deodorant, lotion, sunscreen, and bandaids. Sample or hotel sizes are useful. Gather your items now to donate this August!

Common Flame CAN Meeting

Sunday, August 2 | 11:30 am - 1:15 pm | In person and online | In this CAN (Community Action Network) meeting, we will discuss the upcoming election, with a focus on ballot issues and candidate forums.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Friday, August 21 | 1 - 6 pm | Reserve your time slot to donate blood with Red Cross, and help keep the supply afloat! Bring a photo ID, your blood donor card, or two other forms of ID to your appointment for a successful donation.

Airports' New Frontier: Decarbonization & Electrification

Thursday, August 27 | 7 - 9:30 pm | GTF | Several airports in the US & globally are taking measures to reduce their environmental impact. We'll hear about examples from Renée Azerbegi, an expert who's been on the forefront of sustainable architecture & building design for decades, including with Denver International Airport.

Do you identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or other person of color)? Are you interested in getting together with other BIPOC folks at Common Flame regularly in community? Queer Connections

Monday, August 10 | 7 - 8:30 pm | We welcome all queer & questioning folks ages 18+. This group shares stories, supports each other's voices, approaches spirituality from a queer lens, and collaborates on ways to lift up queer folks young and elderly in and outside our congregation.

Braver Conversations

Sunday, August 16 | 11:30 am - 1 pm | Deepen your spiritual practice and peacemaking: through practicing Nonviolent Communication together, we will nurture heart-to-heart connection, speaking your truth with compassion, and fostering belonging across differences.

Water Balloon Games

Sunday, July 26 | 11:15 am | Third through sixth graders! Come join in the fun and cool down with your friends with some water balloon games on the church grounds. Be prepared to get wet! Popsicles provided!

Mario Kart Tournament

Friday, July 31 | 6:30 - 8:30 pm | We'll set up our first rounds in the chapel over several TVs & devices. Final round played in the sanctuary with an audience! Come to support your friends or play for the championship title! Please bring your own controller & switch if you have them!
