District 58's administrative offices are moving •••
|
|
It's time to update your address books! On Tuesday, Oct. 12, District 58 will be moving its administrative offices to:
Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Office
2300 Warrenville Road
Suite 200NE
Downers Grove, IL 60515
Office hours will continue to be Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the main phone number will continue to be 630-719-5800.
The new location is on Warrenville Road, just west of Belmont/Finley Road. If coming from Ogden Avenue, please drive west on Ogden, turn right (heading north) on Cross Street, and turn right (heading east) on Warrenville Road. The new office will be on your left, in a shared building with Aramark, Addus HomeCare and a few other businesses. Please see the map above.
Visitors should park on the west side of the building, and enter through the southwest door, beneath where an “Aramark” sign is currently placed. In the vestibule, there is an intercom call button for District 58. Press the button and someone will assist you. If you need assistance, please call the District Office at 630-719-5800.
Most Administrative Service Center (ASC) and Longfellow staff will be moving to the new space. Last month, District 58 sold its Longfellow Center, and later this month, the existing ASC building will be retrofitted to serve as a District 58 technology and maintenance hub. Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 12, all in-person District Office visits should be made at the new Warrenville Road office building. With the exception of some maintenance and technology staff, District staff will not be available at the ASC or Longfellow after this week.

COVID updates: Testing, protocols and dashboard ••
|
|
Last Friday, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell sent an email to all families and staff regarding several COVID-19 topics, including test-to-stay, voluntary testing and revised protocols.
Two weeks ago, the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education released updated COVID resources. The guidance is lengthy with many revisions, and District 58 has carefully reviewed it to ensure any changes are implemented with fidelity. Please view the IDPH/ISBE resources below:
District 58 has provided the community with updated COVID-19 data via our COVID-19 Dashboard since we returned to hybrid instruction in October 2020. On that dashboard, we have shared metrics for positive and possible cases for both staff and students. Possible cases include symptomatic individuals and close contacts who have not been tested yet or who are still awaiting a test result. Given the number of symptoms associated with COVID-19, the number of possible cases is always quite high. However, the District has not experienced a large number of possible cases turn into actual cases.
Therefore, moving forward, we will continue to post weekly positive case metrics, but we will stop publishing possible cases. Earlier in the pandemic, the possible cases metric helped us understand the impact of COVID-19, but at this point, the District no longer believes that the possible cases metric is an informative metric for the community. Testing is widely available, including in our schools, so possible cases can be quickly identified as positive or negative with more certainty.
District 58 strives to be transparent and accurate in how we share information. We believe that this change aligns with that philosophy. Please note, if your child is deemed a close contact you will be notified by District 58. Additionally, families will also receive positive student and staff letters when there is an identified case in the home school (the letters will also continue to be posted on the website).

Halloween safety in D58 •
Schools will email parents specific guidelines for school Halloween celebrations and costumes.
When selecting a Halloween costume, please make sure it is appropriate for school! Please avoid costumes that show or imply violence, and costumes that include props that could resemble a weapon. Thank you!
|
|
Food delivery request •
District 58 requests that parents not use food delivery services to bring lunch to their children. It is difficult to confirm the legitimacy of a delivery person, and it can also disrupt the front office and classroom. Thank you for respecting this request! Please note, parents may still drop off food for their children, and schools will always ensure that children who forget a lunch/snack are fed.
