Ingersoll Place Communication
November 20, 2020

With regard to weekly testing of staff for COVID-19, we are again experiencing a lag time in receiving test results. At the present time, there are no positive or presumptive positive cases to report. If that should change, residents and families will be notified promptly.

With regard to visitation, we are currently scheduling indoor and outdoor visits, video chats and window visits. Most slots for Thanksgiving week have been filled. For scheduling assistance, please call the Reception Desk at 518-370-4419.
The Snips Salon at Ingersoll Place reopened this week, much to the delight of residents. In adherence to infection control protocols, only one resident at a time is allowed in the salon and the work area is cleaned and disinfected after each appointment by Rae, Ingersoll’s NYS-licensed beautician.
A creative approach to this year’s Christmas party was rolled out earlier this week by Activities Director Christina Benardo. It will be a “black-tie” affair giving residents and staff an opportunity to dress in holiday attire, show off a new hairstyle or add some sparkle with a favorite piece of costume jewelry. A special menu is being planned by Chef Peter which will feature pre-dinner appetizers, entree selections and assorted desserts and beverages. Staggered dining times remain in place for assisted living residents to ensure compliance with social distancing requirements.
The Home for the Holidays fund drive will get underway next week with a mailing to friends and supporters of Ingersoll Place. This annual appeal for charitable donations has been graciously supported over the years by members of the Ingersoll Place Board of Trustees, staff members, families and friends of current and former residents and local individuals and businesses that recognize the vital role of Ingersoll Place in providing care and services for older adults. Gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated and acknowledged promptly.
Small group activities including exercise class, art projects, Bingo and sing-alongs (to name a few) have resumed in the Activities Room. Activities staff continue to provide one-on-one room visits with residents who prefer more limited social interactions. To help address the special needs of both memory care and assisted living residents during these challenging times, a new activities assistant has been hired bringing the total number of full and part time Activities staff to six.

Interviews with RN candidates began this week and the search for a new finance manager has been expanded to include career centers at local colleges.

As Thanksgiving week approaches, we offer our thanks to you – the families and friends of our Ingersoll Place residents – for entrusting us with their care. We know the holidays are an important time for you and your loved ones and how much you’ve missed the hugs, kisses, conversations and celebrations during these many months of the coronavirus pandemic. We urge you to celebrate safely this holiday season so that together we may all look forward to a healthy, happy new year.
