With regard to weekly testing of staff for COVID-19, there are no positive or presumptive cases to report at the present time. If that should change, residents and families will be notified promptly. The testing period has been extended through Oct. 4, per executive order by Governor Cuomo.
Also announced by the governor’s office this week, assisted living facilities with no new confirmed staff or resident cases of COVID-19 within the past 14 days can resume outdoor visitation. This is a change from the previous regulation which specified 28 days without new cases of COVID-19.

Patio visits which were scheduled to resume Sept. 23, can now resume Sept. 15. It’s important to note, however, all staff are tested weekly. Any positive, presumptive positive or inconclusive test result(s) in the weeks ahead will again require that visitation be paused for a period of 14 days.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 14, Reception Desk staff will begin accepting patio visit requests. Please call 518-370-4419 for scheduling assistance. Window visits and virtual visits via FaceTime and Zoom are also available. Residents and staff (and Bella – everyone’s favorite pup-in-residence, shown below with Activities Director Christina Benardo) are looking forward to welcoming families back to Ingersoll Place.

National Assisted Living Week officially begins Sunday, Sept. 13, and will be celebrated throughout the week with special events including a dance competition, BBQ luncheon, Staff Appreciation Day, Mocktail Hour and on Friday, the premier showing of the dance competition video. A link to the video will be made available for families and friends to enjoy.

In a message from Christopher Healy, President of the Ingersoll Place Board of Trustees, he reports, “The search for a new executive director/administrator is well underway. We have received resumes from a diverse group of candidates and hope to provide an update on the recruitment process in the near future.”

On August 3, 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed a proclamation recognizing the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparent’s Day. It is fitting that National Assisted Living Week begins in celebration of the grandparents who live and work at Ingersoll Place or are members of our extended Ingersoll Place family. To all of you and to grandparents everywhere, we extend best wishes for a joy-filled day filled with love and laughter.
