The Arkive: Ark and Dove's Newsletter

This Sunday come take part in Pentecost at both the 9:30 (choir led) and 11:00 (band led) worship services!

Dear Friends and Members of the Congregation,

You may remember that Anne Arundel IAF is made up of about 20 religious organizations in Anne Arundel County.  Our goal is to combine our efforts with other people of faith to affect positive change in our county.  Ark and Dove became involved with  IAF because, when we did our last long range plan, the congregation said it wanted to work on the root causes of the problems we address through our Mission Ministry.  We are in the pre-sponsoring stage, and we don't yet have an official name.  We are combining our efforts with other people of faith by building relationships and listening to each other.  In fact, right now, we are in the middle of a listening campaign.  Member organizations have pledged to listen to 2794 residents of Anne Arundel County.  Our church has pledged to hold listening sessions for 290 people.  To date, the members and staff of Ark and Dove have hosted nearly 20 listening sessions, and we have heard the concerns of 188 people.

This week we are hosting a series of listening sessions at Ark and Dove, and we are inviting you to participate.  Your voice is important to us.  When we announce the results of the listening campaign, we want to speak with integrity about the concerns of a wide-range of Anne Arundel citizens. The sessions take an hour or less, and your concerns will be recorded (by hand) and help IAF decide what its first action will be.  I sincerely hope you will attend one of these listening sessions.

Peace of Christ,

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4

Come, Holy Spirit! Rain upon dry and dusty lives. Wash away our sin and heal our wounded spirits. Kindle within us the fire of your love to burn away our apathy. With your warmth bend our rigidity, and guide our wandering feet; through Christ our Lord we pray. Amen. - Book of Common Worship
