CSD visiting assistant instructor elected as FLASHA president-elect | |
Marian A. Lowther, MS, CCC-SLP, visiting assistant instructor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, was elected as Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (FLASHA) president-elect for the 2022-2023 year and will become full FLASHA president for the 2023-2024 year. Some of the purposes of FLASHA are to promote the study of basic and disordered processes related to human communication, swallowing, hearing, and balance and to advance an appreciation, understanding, and respect for the diversity of both those persons served and the scope of disorders evaluated and managed. The organization also stimulates the exchange of information among the membership and related professions; encourages the pursuit of professional growth and competency among the membership; advocates for both the prevention and treatment of communication (language, speech, or hearing) and related (balance) disorders, and the rights of persons with these disorders; and advances the individual and collective professional interests of FLASHA members.
