Quality Improvement of Live Tampa Bay's Supporting Seniors Pilot Program

10/1/2025-6/30/2026

Sponsor: Live Tampa Bay

Amount: $66,240

Researchers from the USF Department of Behavioral Health Science and Practice (BHSP) are leading a quality improvement study with Live Tampa Bay to reduce opioid overdoses and deaths among adults aged 60+ in the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area. Serving approximately 16,500 older adults — 10% of the region’s 60+ population — the project integrates prevention programs, targeted public health campaigns, and cross-system coordination among healthcare, behavioral health, justice, and community agencies. The project’s four phases include: (1) pre-intervention research and partner engagement, (2) initial implementation and midterm evaluation, (3) refinement and redeployment of strategies, and (4) a final evaluation and sustainability plan. BHSP will lead evaluation activities to ensure data-driven decision-making and sustainable overdose prevention among older adults in Tampa Bay.
