Associate dean and CSD professor to receive FLASHA Honors of the Association award

Howard Goldstein, PhD was selected to receive the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (FLASHA) 2022 Honors of the Association award. The Honors of the Association is bestowed upon a FLASHA member in recognition of distinguished contributions in speech-language pathology, audiology, or education of the hearing impaired over a period of time, in addition to active participation and service to FLASHA. Goldstein will be honored at a reception on Sat., July 16 at the 2022 FLASHA Convention in St. Petersburg.

Department of Child & Family Studies selects new chair

Lise Fox

Lise Fox, PhD has been selected as chair of the Department of Child & Family Studies. She will begin her role as chair on Aug. 6, 2022. Fox is currently a professor in CFS and is the co-division director of the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities and the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. She has served in several roles within CFS over the past 27 years and possesses a wealth of knowledge about the department, college, and university.

CABA poster expo

ABA students share results of field work projects at poster expo


Thirty-eight first- and second-year master's students in the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program shared their case studies conducted in the community as part of this year's Community Applications of Behavior Analysis (CABA) Poster Expo. This was the first in-person CABA event since the pandemic began. CABA is an annual event in which master's students end the spring semester with an opportunity to showcase their applications of behavioral principles learned in class to their clients under the guidance of their practicum supervisors. Case studies focused on a variety of socially significant issues, including toilet training, self-management, and using differential reinforcement procedures to reduce screaming and increase transitions between classroom activities. ABA hosts roundtable discussion with community partners


The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program hosted a roundtable discussion with community partners representing ten agencies. Faculty members provided an update about upcoming program changes, discussed challenges faced by community partners, and solicited feedback on how the program can be improved and further support community partners as they work diligently to provide a rigorous fieldwork experience to students. Highlights from the meeting included an announcement of the use of a new textbook that might aid students’ application of behavior analytical principles in the classroom as well as at their practicum sites. Aging Studies associate professor named GSA Fellow


Hongdao Meng, MD, MPH, PhD received Fellow status in the Gerontological Society of America. This class of membership acknowledges an individual's outstanding and continuing work in the field of gerontology. Dr. Meng is an officer of the Social Research, Policy, and Practice Section, which focuses on social policy issues and research that affect older adults.
