Over 100 people gathered in the USF Gibbons Alumni Center for a night of celebration, sharing memories, and contributing to a better future for the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (CRMHC) program. BRIDGE Clinic celebrates 16 years
The Building Relationships and Initiatives Dedicated to Gaining Equality (BRIDGE) Clinic celebrated 16 years of serving the community at its banquet last Monday. This year, the social work department of the clinic saw 70 patients, and the students volunteered a total of 715 hours serving low-income, uninsured individuals in the local area. Read more.

School of Aging Studies continues its distinguished lecture series
Ernest Gonzales, PhD, MSSW, from the NYU Silver School of Social Work, presented “Infusing Anti-Racist and Anti-Ageist Principles into Productive Aging Scholarship: Confronting ‘No Data…No Problem’” as part of the School of Aging Studies and Florida Policy and Exchange Center on Aging Distinguished Lecture Series. Gonzales was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his outstanding leadership and scholarship benefiting older adults. Read more.

Amount: $146,931
USF provides a comprehensive evaluation of Florida AWARE BRIDGES. This includes training and coordinating data collection from the state and local education agencies and mental health providers to evaluate the progress of program implementation and report outcomes and GPRA performance measures to SAMHSA in SPARS on a quarterly and annual basis, as per the required schedule. Additionally, data reflecting progress toward objective targets are summarized quarterly and shared with the Florida AWARE partners, providing feedback on critical measures. The USF evaluation team also completes a comprehensive report to support the grant’s annual report requirement and to facilitate continuous improvement by the State Leadership Team.

Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: A Narrative Review of Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Healthcare Outcomes

Florida Center for Inclusive Communities Trainee Sahiti Gilela conducted a narrative review of racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare outcomes for people with Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD). Her findings suggest that healthcare disparities remain a prevalent issue and are exacerbated for those people at the intersection of IDDs and racial/ethnic minority. She will present her recommendations to recognize and minimize these disparities. Sahiti was mentored by Elizabeth Perkins, PHD, RNLD, FAAIDD, FGSA.
