Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce Presents at the Capitol
On Oct. 15, Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce (FCBHW) Executive Director Courtney Whitt, PhD, and lead statistician Jacob Gray, PhD, represented the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences in Tallahassee for Florida Behavioral Health Day.
During the trip, they presented to the Florida Behavioral Health Association leadership, board, and members, sharing insights from FCBHW’s new interactive data dashboard and statewide retention survey. They also connected with leaders from across Florida who share FCBHW’s mission to grow, retain, and innovate the state’s behavioral health workforce. Director of victim assistance shares real-world insights with criminology students
Chris Jeffords, director of victim assistance at the State Attorney’s Office for Hillsborough County, visited Cary Hopkins Hall’s Victimology class in the Department of Criminology. Jeffords discussed the wide range of services available to crime victims, with a special focus on those affected by domestic violence. Drawing on his experience as a retired Temple Terrace Police Department officer, he shared insights into guiding victims through the legal system and offering support throughout court proceedings. Jeffords also highlighted internship opportunities within his department for students interested in victim advocacy.

uninsured adults in Tampa. Social work students provide
assessments, counseling, and resource referrals to address psychosocial needs and connect patients with community support. Donation boxes can be found in the School of Social Work suite MHC 1400.
