USF Board of Trustees establishes Darryl E. Rouson Center for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Research


The USF Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the creation of the Darryl E. Rouson Center for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Research, which will be dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of the complex relationship between substance abuse and mental health. As part of the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences, the center will lead research aimed at improving treatment outcomes and reducing the broader societal impacts of these conditions. Marriage and Family Therapy group

USF’s Marriage and Family Therapy program hosts impactful couples therapy training


The USF Marriage and Family Therapy program, in collaboration with EFT Tampa Bay, hosted a three-day Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy Core Skills training from Aug. 21–23, drawing more than 40 participants for a weekend of learning, growth, and connection. Read more.

What's New? Tap-enabled USF IDs will be mandatory for entry into the Tampa library. Construction on the new Library entrance, which includes security gates that require a tap-enabled ID for entry, is expected to be completed in October. For those who need to update to a tap-enabled ID, the USF Card Shop is located on the first floor of the Tampa library.

The Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) Model Training, facilitated by Rose Iovannone, PhD, is an 8-hour training divided into two parts, offered on two different days. It is recommended that participants attend the training on both days.

Ten graduate students will receive 15 credits of paid tuition, fees, books, the opportunity for presentation at a professional conference, coaching to write their own manuscript for publication, the skills to conduct implementation science and translational research, and will engage with a community agency, leaving them with a catered adolescent behavioral health evidence-based intervention. Applications are due Oct. 15 for the Spring program.
