MSW graduate gives commencement speech

Maia Bellavia

2023 graduate of the Master's of Social Work program Maia Bellavia spoke at this summer's commencement ceremony. Bellavia talked about her journey of self-discovery, which included going back to school as a 35-year-old wife and mother and finding her mentor who led her on the path of improving the lives of others.

CARD consultant named a top Latino leader

Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) Consultant Yazmin Castellano, MA has been selected to receive the Top Latino Leader Award at this year's National Latino Leadership Conference. The two-day virtual conference will be September 19-20 and consists of workshops, panels, and keynotes on various topics in an effort to foster change and opportunity within the Latino community. Castellano will present at the conference on the topic of professionals with autism spectrum disorder.

Twenty-four new faculty members have joined CBCS this semester. The new faculty are joining the Departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Child and Family Studies, Criminology, Mental Health Law and Policy and the School of Aging Studies and the School of Social Work.

Aging studies PhD student facilitates session at FCOA conference


Cassidy Doyle, a PhD student in the School of Aging Studies, facilitated the session “Advancing Your Career in Aging at Any Age” at the Florida Council on Aging (FCOA) conference. Session discussants covered the importance of remaining patient as you begin your career, always building upon your data interpretation skills, and allowing your passion for your work to inspire others. Doyle is the first student to be sponsored by AARP Florida to attend the conference.

Updated Male MH Course - Flyer Fall2023

Male Mental Health and Well-being Course


Students will learn more about male mental health and well-being through exploring prevalence of mental disorders, perceptions, practices, and programs. Students will have the opportunity to examine various male mental health topics from a multidisciplinary and multicultural perspective across the life span.

USF Faculty/Staff Appreciation Game

Sept. 23


The faculty/staff appreciation game will be on Sept. 23 when USF football faces off against Rice University. Faculty and staff may claim two free tickets to the game but also have the ability to purchase up to eight more tickets at a discounted rate. This promotion is not available for student employees, as students can already claim free tickets to USF football games. More info.
