As the USF Alumni Association prepares for its upcoming celebration, six CBCS alumni have been recognized as 2024 USF Fast 56 award recipients — the 56 fastest-growing Bull-owned or Bull-led businesses. The alumni include the president of Keel and Curley Winery, the CEO of Black Digital, the president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties, and more. Read more.

Recruitment extended for ground-breaking dementia prevention research through December 2024
USF is extending its recruitment efforts of healthy, older adult volunteers from its local areas to play a crucial role in the landmark Preventing Alzheimer’s with Cognitive Training (PACT) study through December 2024. To qualify, participants must be 65 or older with no signs of cognitive impairment or dementia. There is an emphasis on enrolling African American/Black and Hispanic study participants. Read more.

Aging studies PhD student discusses aging and brain health in new podcast episode
In a new podcast episode, Cassidy Doyle, a doctoral candidate in the School of Aging Studies, spoke about her research on "SuperAgers," individuals aged 80 and above with memory capabilities comparable to much younger people. She spoke with Krystal Culler on the Let's Talk Brain Health! podcast about her research on cognitive aging, SuperAgers, Alzheimer's prevention, and the inspiring story of her journey from a teen caregiver to a dedicated researcher. The objective of this study is to use advanced statistical evaluation methods to estimate the effect of health insurance policy coverage requirements in Medicaid and private insurance plans on hearing aid use and self-reported health using high quality, reproducible Anthem private insurance claims data, National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) data, Medicaid claims-linked NHIS data, and Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey data.

The Preventing Alzheimer's with Cognitive Training (PACT) team is recruiting volunteers to participate in their research study to see if computerized training exercises reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Interested adults who are 65 years or older, do not have any neurological disorders, have not had a stroke or brain injury, and do not have mild cognitive impairment or dementia, should visit www.PACTstudy.org for more information.

The Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) Model Training facilitated by Rose Iovannone, PhD, BDBA-D, is an eight-hour training divided into two parts, offered on two different days. The trainings cover the PTR Model, research supporting its efficacy, and the five steps of the PTR process. Organizers recommend that individuals attend the entire training on both days.
