Session 4 of the Mental Health and Wellness in the Workplace course is now available


The fourth session of the Mental Health and Wellness in the Workplace course is now available! This module introduces common challenges related to mental health, behavioral health, and addiction that may be seen in the workplace. Participants will gain an understanding of how to identify these concerns and how to determine the level of urgency in addressing them. Start the lesson.

Hot dog! CFS celebrates winning food drive competition with pups and sweets party


Congratulations again to the Department of Child and Family Studies (CFS) team on winning the CBCS Feed-a-Bull food drive competition and the pups and sweets party. The team made the most of this party by inviting new CFS staff as a meet and greet and grilling hot dogs!

Social work professor gives master class in Ireland


School of Social Work Professor Alison Salloum, PhD, LCSW and colleagues Marie Lindebø Knutsen and Pernille Gurandsrud with the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies provided a master class training titled "Parent-led Therapist-Assisted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Children after Trauma" at the 17th European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Conference in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Salloum also presented her individual paper, "The Roles of Therapeutic Alliance and Negative Cognitions in Parent-Led Treatment versus Standard Care Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress."

Aging studies PhD student to serve as panelist at FCOA conference


Cassidy Doyle, a PhD student in the School of Aging Studies, will serve as a panelist for the session "Advancing Your Career in Aging at Any Age" at the Florida Council on Aging (FCOA) conference. This interactive session sponsored by AARP Florida is perfect for leaders at any stage in their career. Panelists will detail what they wish they knew as they entered the field, the toughest part of their job, and what they are excited to learn from emerging leaders. Social Work at NASW

Social work students and faculty attend NASW-FL Conference


Students and faculty representing the USF School of Social Work recently attended the 2023 Florida Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-FL) conference. Assistant Professor Dasha Rhodes, PhD, LMSW and recent BSW Sarasota graduate Jam Ost presented at the conference. Their research poster was titled, "There are no typical days: Lessons learned among law enforcement social workers." Students who attended were able to network with social workers and gain new knowledge about the profession. Read more.
