Criminology student receives Kosove scholarship | |
Incoming criminology graduate student Maria Ramirez has been selected as a recipient of a two-year scholarship from the Kosove Society at USF. Ramirez was selected as the sole graduate student to receive the scholarship. Her tuition, fees, and textbooks are covered in addition to a stipend for housing. The scholarship also provides funding to cover academic conference travel support, research internships, and study-abroad experiences.

CBCS holds spring assembly | |
College faculty and staff gathered in the MHC Atrium and online for the Spring 2023 CBCS Faculty and Staff Assembly last week. Presentations were given by various leaders in CBCS, and faculty, staff, and students received awards for their dedication to the success of the college and its students. The group also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Department of Criminology and the 50th anniversary of the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program.

Social work student leads community garden project
Bachelor of Social Work student Britney Guerra, an intern at the Manatee County Public Safety Department, recently celebrated the launch of "The Everlasting Garden" as part of her internship. The garden will provide clients of the Salvation Army and Homeless Outreach Team an opportunity to spend time outside of their dorms and off of the streets in between case management meetings, medical appointments, and job interviews. Nine CBCS students have been awarded Undergraduate Research Scholarship Awards through The Moms Project and Florida High Tech Corridor to support their research projects related to well-being, positive aging, and quality of life. Read more.

USF Audiology and USF Health ENT faculty mentor Malawi audiology students, collaborate on research project
Two students from the African Bible College in Malawi, who were mentored by faculty from Audiology and USF Health’s Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery (ENT), recently presented the findings of their collaborative research project at the Population Hearing Healthcare Audiology Conference in Arizona. Michelle Arnold, AuD, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, worked with the two senior audiology students and USF Health Assistant Professor Julia Toman, MD, MPH, FACS on the project. Three CBCS seniors named 2023 Golden Bull Award recipients
Three CBCS students were selected to receive a 2023 Golden Bull Award, which recognizes students who embrace and exemplify exceptional leadership and service to the university and its surrounding communities and embody the values of USF. Caitlyn Deam, a double major in cell and molecular biology and criminology; Simone Till, a BSW student; and Allison Richards, a biology major with a minor in criminology were selected as recipients. Simone Till: A BSW student focused on advocacy
Simone Till is a senior studying social work who applies empathy and her lived expertise with her disability to advocate for others and accessibility policy. Call for Participants: Research Study Testing a Prototype Chatbot Disclosure Deliberator
The USF ACCESS Lab and the STigma Action Research Lab are conducting a study to test out an interactive, SMS-based chatbot program. Through testing the prototype chatbot, you will create a disclosure story and learn about the disclosure decision process. The research study includes interacting with the chatbot program over three sessions and providing feedback on the prototype. Compensation includes $30 for initial surveys and chatbot prototype testing, $20 for qualitative interviews, and $15 if participating in the chatbot booster and follow-up survey.
