7/1/2024-6/30/2026

Total Award Amount: $94,635

Ready for Life (RFL) is implementing a Youth Opportunity Grant, Guaranteed Income Program via funding from the City of St. Petersburg. RFL has contracted with the Department of Child and Family Studies to provide a comprehensive evaluation plan to assist the organization in monitoring implementation, assessing impact, tracking progress on the implementation of relevant activities, and communicating results and impacts to key stakeholders. To ensure program objectives are met, the USF evaluation team will utilize a youth survey, focus groups, and key informant interviews to collect data and provide feedback in order that RFL can access results for creating strategic plans, keeping focus on overall program objectives, measuring progress, and supporting data-driven decisions and ongoing quality improvement.

Expansion of University of South Florida's BRIGHT Project to Combat Human Trafficking

Sponsor: National Institute of Justice

7/1/2024-6/30/2026

Amount: $1,850,000

The overall purpose of the BRIGHT (Bridging Resource and Information Gaps in Human Trafficking) Project is to build a referral system for human trafficking services throughout Florida. BRIGHT will provide immediate access to a secure and vetted network of care that will inform first responders of available resources and facilitate ease of access to services for human trafficking survivors. Through the vetting process, the BRIGHT project aims to establish and improve standards of care for human trafficking survivors. Data collected through BRIGHT will provide Florida with a clearer understanding of survivor demographics, service redundancies, and service gaps to support data-driven allocation of funding for anti-trafficking resources.

Human Trafficking Data Project

Sponsor: National Institute of Justice

7/1/2024-6/30/2026

Amount: $963,000

The Human Trafficking Data Project aims to aggregate anonymous human trafficking administrative data independently collected by state agencies and state-funded victim service providers. The passage of Florida Senate Bill 7064 in May 2023 authorizes the University of South Florida Trafficking in Persons Research Lab to create the Statewide Repository for Anonymous Human Trafficking Data (TIPSTR) and presents an unprecedented opportunity to address human trafficking data deficiencies. The Human Trafficking Data Project will leverage this mandate to provide comprehensive and accurate assessment of human trafficking incidents, hotspots, trends, as well as community risk and resilience factors for the State of Florida. With aggregated data made available through this project, Florida will gain the critical knowledge needed for a coordinated, evidence-based response to more effectively combat human trafficking and support survivors.
