Criminology faculty member helps new Bulls feel at home

As Housing and Residential Education welcomed 2,800 residents during the USF Fall 2024 Grand Opening, Cary Hopkins Eyles, MA, CAP, a visiting assistant instructor of criminology, volunteered and helped make students and their families feel welcome and comfortable. She and other volunteers gave out beads and ushered them to residential services to get their keys.

USF launches new Quality Enhancement Plan: ExCeL


USF has a new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), ExCeL, which focuses on undergrad’s career readiness. This initiative will help undergraduate students more quickly identify their career goals, ensure they gain real-world experience, and help them land jobs in their fields or admission to graduate school. Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program earns reaccreditation


The Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program has successfully completed reaccreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP). This accredits both the Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling major tracks in the master's program until 2032 and ensures that students receive a quality educational experience.

Audiology student receives award from the Florida Academy of Audiology


Second-year audiology student April Boothe was selected to receive the Marc Trychel Future Leader Award from the Florida Academy of Audiology. Her mentor, Michelle Kapolowicz, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, nominated her, highlighting her "exceptional abilities and genuine passion for audiology." Aging studies faculty and students share research findings at Florida Conference on Aging


School of Aging Studies faculty and students recently attended the Florida Conference on Aging. They presented their research on using music to reduce agitation in assisted living residents with dementia, the potential of social engagement to prevent cognitive decline after stroke, hearing loss and cognitive decline, and increasing disaster preparedness among caregivers. PACT Study

Volunteers age 65+ needed for study on preventing Alzheimer's disease


The Preventing Alzheimer's with Cognitive Training (PACT) team is recruiting volunteers to participate in their research study to see if computerized training exercises reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Interested adults who are 65 years or older, do not have any neurological disorders, have not had a stroke or brain injury, and do not have mild cognitive impairment or dementia, should visit www.PACTstudy.org for more information.

The Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) Model Training facilitated by Rose Iovannone, PhD, BDBA-D, is an eight-hour training divided into two parts, offered on two different days. The trainings cover the PTR Model, research supporting its efficacy, and the five steps of the PTR process. Organizers recommend that individuals attend the entire training on both days.
