CARD consultants share expertise on behaviors of children with autism


Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) consultants Liz Burke, MS and Christine Maughan, MEd, presented at the 2023 Florida Children & Families Summit in Orlando. The annual summit hosted child welfare personnel, foster/adoptive parents, guardians ad litem, and service providers from across the State of Florida. The two offered their expertise in the field of autism and behavior with their presentation titled, "Addressing Behaviors in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder."

MHLP assistant professor awarded grant to study risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease, dementia in older LGBTQ+ adults


Nik Lampe, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy (MHLP), has been awarded an Alzheimer's Association Research Fellowship to Promote Diversity grant. Lampe received nearly $200,000 to examine risk and protective factors for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) concerning LGBTQ+-affirming care and caregiver support among a cohort of 1,256 LGBTQ+ older adults. Read more.

CARD receives donation from Tampa Bay Sports Commission's campaign


The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) was presented with a $500 donation from the Tampa Bay Sports Commission’s NIL Brand Ambassador campaign, Setting the Standard – Growing the Game. The presentation was held during the Road 2 Tampa Bay Volleyball Invitational held in Tampa Aug. 25-26 as a kickoff to the 2023 season. Read more.

2023 Cycling for Autism

Over the past 11 years, the Tampa Midtown Rotary Club has raised over $200,000 with its annual Cycling for Autism event to support individuals in our community who have an autism spectrum disorder. Proceeds this year will benefit the Applied Behavior Analysis Program, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University of South Florida, and the Tampa Midtown Rotary Foundation.
