Where are they now? Catching up with graduates of SRI@FMHI


For nearly two decades, some of the most promising undergraduates from universities across the country have traveled to the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI) for an opportunity to hone their research skills as part of the Summer Research Institute (SRI@FMHI).


The final group of scholars in the SRI@FMHI program in 2024 includes 13 students chosen from top universities across nine states. As they work toward completing the program, we reached out to graduates of previous cohorts to find out, "where are you now?" Read more.

ABA doctoral candidate featured on Behavioral Observations podcast


Applied behavior analysis (ABA) doctoral candidate Amalix Flores, MS, BCBA, was featured as a guest on the 9th episode of Behavioral Observations en Español podcast, where she joined two fellow Venezuelans to discuss the history of behavior analysis in Venezuela, paying tribute to the legacy of Venezuelans in the science of behavior analysis. Know your location in case of an emergency


Reminder on how to report an emergency while on campus:


  1. From any cell phone dial 911.
  2. Immediately tell the dispatcher you are calling from the USF Tampa Campus.
  3. Be specific about your location. This means you should provide the physical address of the building you are in at the time of the emergency.


A full list of physical addresses for all USF Tampa campus buildings is available here. Here are the physical addresses for CBCS buildings on the Tampa campus:

  • MHC: 3108 USF Banyan Circle
  • MHA classrooms: 3018 USF Banyan Circle (slightly different than MHC building)
  • PCD: 3711 USF Citrus Drive
  • SOC: 12320 USF Genshaft Drive


If you are in one of the Westside Conference Center classrooms (MHA) please identify your room as MHA 126A, BC, D, or E.


If possible, please also notify the MHC facilities staff at (813) 230-9839 so they can direct emergency personnel to your area as quickly as possible

Trauma-Informed Care in Schools

(Part of the 2024 Project MABAS Virtual Summer Institute)

This presentation will provide an overview of trauma-informed care in educational settings. Participants will learn about the prevalence of trauma in childhood and risk and protective factors as well as how to utilize trauma assessment tools and to implement trauma-informed care approaches to addressing childhood trauma. As part of this training, participants will learn the importance of trauma-informed self-care, and developing a self-care plan. RSVP here.
