Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce announces key initiatives at inaugural event


As part of its mission to develop a deeper understanding of the factors driving the state's behavioral health workforce shortage, the newly established Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce will build a comprehensive website and an interactive data dashboard that identifies gaps in both the workforce and education and training opportunities, according to an update shared by Executive Director Courtney Whitt, PhD. Additionally, the center will advance professional development in the field through distance learning and conduct original research, beginning with a statewide behavioral health workforce survey and an examination of the impact of interstate practice compacts. Center for Hospice, Palliative Care and End-of-Life Studies awards pilot grant to Nik Lampe and Ji-Young Lee


Nik Lampe, PhD, (PI) and Ji-Young Lee, PhD, (co-PI), assistant professors in the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy, were awarded the Center for Hospice, Palliative Care and End-of-Life Studies Pilot Grant in collaboration with Chapters Health System, Inc. Lampe and Lee's research team will conduct focus groups with hospice care providers from Life Path Hospice and other sites in the Chapters Health System network, family caregivers of LGBTQ+ hospice care patients, and community-dwelling LGBTQ+ older adults. Read more.

CARD-USF staff present at statewide autism conference


Staff members from the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities at USF (CARD-USF) presented on topics ranging from building inclusive communities to behavior strategies for teachers at the 32nd Statewide Center for Autism & Related Disabilities Conference. The three-day conference welcomed educators, professionals, and caregivers from across Florida and featured presentations on various autism-related subjects. Read more.

This family-friendly event provides an evening full of fun, entertainment, food, and a silent auction. Funds raised from the event support CARD-USF's Autism Services Fund.
