Cupcake Delivery Cheer Fundraiser!
Order a delicious Vanilla or Chocolate Cupcake for $5 each, and have them delivered to your favorite students on February 14, by our WA Cheerleaders! You can print off the form attached below, and deliver it to your front office, payable by check! If you would prefer to pay by card, please use THIS FORM, and you will be charged via SchoolsBuddy. The cost will be $5.62 online so you save just a little bit by paying with check! You can also pick up a form from the front office! |

Update on our Minutes and Potential Make-Up Days
When it comes to our minutes, and if time will need to be made up, our plan is to apply for a waiver with TEA that would allow us to continue our schedule as currently planned, with no additional days added. If this is unsuccessful, we will provide further details on other contingency plans at that time.

Cheer Interest Meeting!
For those who are interested in joining the best Cheer Team in Texas, we will have an informational meeting on Thursday February 9. The meeting is open to rising 7th-12th graders, and both athlete and parent will be required at the meeting!

Blacksmiths in the Community!
A group of Westlake Academy Students formed CUB, a 501c3 non-profit, to help bring sports to under-privileged areas of DFW. Please follow the link below to read their story and all that went into helping those in the community in need of a little assistance!

As part of the culminating project for the MYP programme, our 10th grade students have been working hard on their Personal Project goals. The Personal Project Showcase features some projects that the students would like to share with the community. Each week we will add new projects. Click on the link below to view the showcase and support the unique projects created by our students. Here are a few projects you can support this week!
- Kishwar Malik has started her own baking business. She is ready to take orders!
- Grant Thowe is starting a new club to help improve and maintain the Westlake Academy butterfly garden. Students in grades 8-12 are invited to join!

North Texas Teen Book Festival
The North Texas Teen Book Festival will be held on Saturday, March 4 at the Irving Convention Center. Additional information regarding this event has been shared on ManageBac for our secondary students as well as the Grade 5 instructional newsletter.

Athletics Conversations
As we prepare for the 2023-2024 school year, we would like to extend an invitation for you to join us on February 15, 9:00am -10:30am and February 22, 6:00pm-7:30pm, for a conversation about the Athletic Program in terms of league affiliation, sports offered, facilities, and staff. These sharing sessions will occur in the meeting room located in the field house. We hope you will make plans to attend.

Group Picture Day and Retakes
Picture day for our group photos is Monday morning, February 13. Make sure you have your full dress uniform that day. If you want to retake your original picture from picture day, or you were absent on picture day, you can also take an individual photo retake that day!

Daddy Daughter Dance
Bonjour! Join us for A Night in Paris from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Saturday, February 11. The Daddy Daughter Dance is an annual dance for PYP girls to attend with their father or another family member. Purchase presale tickets by February 8 for $45 per couple, $15 additional daughter(s). Price goes up to $55 and $20 at the door.

School Dances are on the horizon! The Winter Wonderland Dance, for Grades 6-8, has been rescheduled for February 24 from 6-8pm in the MPH. The Sadie Hawkins Dance for Grades 9-12 will be February 10 from 7:30-9:30 at the Harrison Ballroom. Tickets are available on SchoolsBuddy!

MYP Parent Coffee
The next HOC sponsored Parent Coffee will be March 3, at 8am in the Fieldhouse Classroom. This meeting will be focused on the STAAR test redesign where you can ask our testing coordinator, Mr. Febres, or MYP principal, Mr. Ituah, any questions you may have!
