On Friday, December 19th, MAS-SSF hosted a small fundraising dinner at Shalimar Grill in Elk Grove in support of Amanah House, our domestic violence shelter, as well as for other women who come to us for support when facing the challenge of domestic violence in their homes. Our community came together with one shared purpose: to stand beside women and children seeking safety, dignity, and a future free from violence.
That evening wasn’t just a fundraiser—it was a reminder that when someone chooses to care consistently, lives change.
The evening was centered on two powerful themes: intention and the importance of community support. Our Executive Director, Gulshan Yusufzai, spoke about our nine programs that provide support to the community. Programs Director Samiya Malik highlighted both the progress we’ve made—and the urgent gaps that still exist—reminding us that lasting change only happens when community support is steady and, and ongoing, aligned with the importance of transparent intentions paired with meaningful and adequate action from both service providers and the community at large.
Throughout the evening, MAS-SSF leaders shared what your generosity makes possible. While protecting confidentiality, we shared stories of women who escaped violence and rebuilt their lives with support from Amanah House and MAS-SSF. These stories were not about trauma—they were about resilience. About mothers finding safety. About children rediscovering joy. About what happens when someone doesn’t have to walk alone.
Every woman suffering from domestic violence who seeks support from MAS-SSF carries fear, uncertainty, and hope in equal measure. Hope that someone will believe her. Hope that safety is possible. Hope that her children can sleep without fear. Because of supporters like you, that hope is met with shelter, compassion, and a path forward.
Because of the compassion in that room, several one-time donations were made and seven new sustaining donors stepped forward—choosing to give monthly so survivors can count on support not just today, but tomorrow and beyond. Monthly donors are the backbone of this work. Their steady commitment ensures women receive not only immediate safety, but also mental health care, advocacy, and peer support that leads to long-term stability.
Now, we’re inviting 13 more caring individuals to join them.
By becoming a monthly donor, you provide consistency in a survivor’s most uncertain moment. You help keep doors open, lights on, counselors available, and hope alive—every single month.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, gave, and stood with survivors. If you believe every woman and child deserves safety and healing, we invite you to take the next step.

Your compassion doesn’t just help—it lasts.
As promised during the fundraiser, we will continue to provide updates on how donor funds have been utilized and circle in with you in the coming months to continue the conversation.
Please share information about MAS-SSF’s efforts to support victims of domestic violence and encourage others to get involved.
