Women’s History Month each March invites us to recognize and celebrate the women whose leadership, service, and determination help shape our communities and our country. At Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, we are proud to honor an exceptional leader, Sarita Hill.
As CEO, Ms. Hill leads with compassion and conviction, grounded in the belief that when families are supported, the entire community thrives. Through programs like Head Start and initiatives that promote economic stability, her leadership focuses on creating opportunities and building brighter futures for children and parents alike.
“Community Action is about opening doors,” Hill shares. “When we invest in children and stand beside families, we’re shaping the future of Macon-Bibb.”
This month, we celebrate her story, one of service, vision, and a steadfast commitment to helping our community move forward together.

A strong start begins here. Macon-Bibb EOC is now enrolling children from birth to age five in our FREE Head Start and Early Head Start programs for the 2026–2027 school year.
Our classrooms are safe, nurturing spaces where children build confidence, curiosity, and the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. Families also receive support through health screenings, nutrition services, developmental resources, and ongoing family engagement, because when families are supported, children thrive.
If you live in Bibb or Monroe County and meet eligibility guidelines, we encourage you to apply early. Space is limited, and we want every child to have the opportunity for a bright beginning.
Call 478-738-3240 or visit www.maconbibbeoc.com/head-start to begin the enrollment process today.
